About
I started in two places at once: on walls and on faces. Graffiti taught me that a picture has to stand within minutes, and that a line either sits or it doesn't. Portraits taught me the opposite — that you can spend a week on one eye. Both are still in every painting: the stencil, the fast edge, and underneath it someone looking back. I never went to a school for this. I did it, for a few years, until it sat right.
At some point the sentence was simply there, and it has not left since: money isn't everything, but everything costs money. The paintings circle around it. Sometimes I paint the symbols — the note, the vault, the bottle that is meant to stand for success. Sometimes the stories wealth has been recommending itself with for decades. I do not paint them to expose them — what draws me in is how well it is made: how bright, how self-evident, how successful. What connects these paintings is not the motif but the curiosity about why it works on all of us so reliably.
I live and work near Hamburg. Alongside my own series I paint on commission. If you have a motif, a format or even just a sentence in mind, write to me — more than one painting has started that way.
