I work with whatever the painting calls for: acrylic and spray paint, stencil and brush, on canvas, wood or paper. Some pieces stand after a single night, others grow over weeks in layers. What interests me most is the point where a painting starts to resist the plan — from there on I am not painting alone.
About me
I am Nelson Kleinmann, a painter, self-taught, based near Hamburg. I started on walls and on faces: graffiti taught me that a line either sits or it doesn't — portraits, that you can spend a week on one eye. Both are still in every piece I make. I work in series, and each one brings its own subject, its own material and its own technique. Every painting here is one of a kind and available; I also paint on commission.

Money is not everything, but everything costs money. This exhibition circles around that sentence — not as an accusation, but out of fascination. What wealth promises is well made: it shines, it pulls, it has been working for generations. Most of the works paint exactly that pull, and they do it in its own language: clear colours, smooth surfaces, good cheer. One hangs alone and means something else. It is not about things having a price, but about the line — about what happens when something gets a price that should never have one.
