No money in the picture, and still this title. A president has tied his own country's flag across his face, the way a bank robber ties a bandana. The cloth is cut from the same fabric as the ground: what he makes himself unrecognisable with is the very thing he is supposed to stand for. The painting is not against the market. That things have a price is fine — this is about the line. Where a vote becomes purchasable, someone is selling what was never theirs. Painted with stencil and spray paint, the oldest tool in this exhibition and the only one that comes from the street. It hangs alone, far from the rest, and is smaller than a newspaper page. You have to walk over to it.
